  Canceling your subscription brings your account to the free tier. Your existing data is never affected by changes to your subscription, so canceling your paid plan will not affect any of your documents.

## Downgrading to a Lower Plan

Craft does not have a direct "downgrade" button. To switch to a lower-tier plan (for example, from Plus to Starter, or from Team to Plus):

<Steps>
  <Step>
    Cancel your current subscription using the steps above
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Wait for your current billing period to end — you'll keep your current plan features until the expiry date
  </Step>

  <Step>
    After your plan expires, subscribe to the new (lower) plan through [craft.do/pricing](https://www.craft.do/pricing) or the App Store
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning title="Important">
  Do not subscribe to the new plan before your current subscription expires. If you subscribe early, you may end up with two active subscriptions.
