# Managing Documents
> Create, organize, delete, and share your Craft documents across platforms.
Documents are the foundation of your work in Craft. This guide covers the essential operations for managing your documents.
## Creating Documents
You have multiple ways to create a new document:
* Click the **New Document** icon at the top center of the window
* Click the **New Document** icon in the left sidebar
* Use the keyboard shortcut `⌘ (Command) + N`
Create a new document in these ways:
* Tap the **New Document** icon at the top of the screen
* Select the **+** icon in the center of the bottom toolbar
* With an external keyboard, press `⌘ (Command) + N`
## Deleting Documents
**From the sidebar:**
Right-click on the document and select **Delete**, or select the document and press the Delete key.
**From within a document:**
Click the info icon in the left sidebar and select **Delete**.
**From the document list:**
Swipe left or right on the document and tap **Delete**.
**From within a document:**
Open the document details and tap **Delete**.
Deleted documents move to the **Recently Deleted** folder where they can be restored for 30 days before permanent deletion.
## Starring Documents
Mark important documents with a star to quickly access them later from the **Starred** folder.
Right-click on a document and select **Star** from the context menu. Starred documents appear in the **Starred** folder in your sidebar.
Swipe left or right on a document and tap **Star**. Find all starred documents in the **Starred** folder.
## Sharing Documents
Open a document and click the **Share** button in the top right corner.
Choose your sharing permissions:
* **Only collaborators** – Restrict access to invited members
* **Anyone with the link can view** – Allow viewing without editing
* **Anyone with the link can edit** – Enable collaborative editing
You can also Publish, Export, or Transfer documents from the same menu.
Open a document and tap the share icon (page with arrow) in the top right corner.
Tap the **Comments** tab to set collaboration restrictions. Use **Advanced Options** to configure settings like displaying the document author.
The iOS version currently only supports comment-only sharing. Full view/edit permissions are available on macOS and Web app.
## Table of Contents
Every document automatically generates a Table of Contents based on your headings.
### macOS
The Table of Contents appears in the left sidebar. Click the **Sidebar Toggle** in the top left to switch between:
* **Document view** – Shows the current document's table of contents
* **Folder view** – Shows your space's folder structure
