# Import and Export Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export Move your content in and out of Craft with support for multiple formats and platforms. Craft makes it easy to bring your content from other platforms and export your work in various formats. Whether you're migrating from another note-taking app or backing up your documents, we've got you covered. ## Getting started Bring your notes from other apps into Craft Save your documents in multiple formats ## Universal file formats All Craft apps support importing and exporting these formats: * **Markdown (.md)** – Plain text with formatting * **TextBundle (.textbundle)** – Markdown with embedded images * **PDF (.pdf)** – Fixed-layout documents * **CSV (.csv)** – Tabular data for collections ## Quick tips * **Importing**: Start with a small batch to test formatting before importing everything * **Exporting**: Use TextBundle or Markdown for maximum compatibility * **Backups**: Export your entire space regularly for safekeeping If you encounter issues during import or export, check our platform-specific troubleshooting guides or contact support. # Export Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/export Export your Craft documents to various formats for backup and sharing. Craft lets you export individual documents, entire folders, or complete spaces. Pick the scope that fits what you need to back up, share, or move. Export a single document to PDF, Word, Markdown, and more. Export an entire folder with all nested content. Export a complete space for backup or migration. # Export to PDF, Word, and Markdown Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/export/document Export individual documents to PDF, Word, Markdown, and other formats. Craft allows you to export your documents in various formats, making it easy to share, back up, or move your content to other platforms. Exporting is available across **iOS, Mac, iPad, Web, and Windows**, with some format differences depending on the platform. ## How to export a document **Open the document** you want to export. **Click on the Share button** in the top-right corner. **Select Export As**. **Choose the desired export format**. Export menu showing format options ## Available export formats The available formats vary depending on which platform you're using: * **PDF (.pdf)** – Ideal for sharing a formatted, print-ready version of your document. * **Microsoft Word (.docx)** – Exports a Word-compatible file for further editing. * **Image (.png/.jpeg)** – Converts the document into an image. * **Markdown (.md)** – Retains structure and basic formatting for use in other apps. * **TextBundle (.textbundle)** – Exports Markdown along with embedded images and attachments. * **Email** – Sends the document directly via email. * **PDF (.pdf)** – Ideal for sharing a formatted, print-ready version of your document. * **PDF (.pdf)** – Print-friendly export format. * **Image (.png/.jpeg)** – Exports the document as an image file. * **Markdown (.md)** – A structured text format for cross-platform use. * **TextBundle (.textbundle)** – Exports Markdown along with embedded images and attachments. * **PDF (.pdf)** – Print-friendly export format. * **Microsoft Word (.docx)** – Exports a Word-compatible file for further editing. * **Image (.png/.jpeg)** – Exports the document as an image file. * **Markdown (.md)** – A structured text format for cross-platform use. * **TextBundle (.textbundle)** – Exports Markdown along with embedded images and attachments. ## PDF export options When you export a document as PDF, Craft opens an export sheet with options for paper size, font size, and what to include in the output. The available toggles and defaults differ slightly between platforms. | Option | Type | Default | | ------------------- | ------------------------ | ------- | | Paper Size | Dropdown (A4, Letter, …) | A4 | | Font Size | Dropdown (Regular, …) | Regular | | Show Document Title | Toggle | Off | | Show Page Numbers | Toggle | Off | | Show Watermark | Toggle | Off | | Show Tags | Toggle | On | | Use Style | Toggle | On | | Dark Mode | Toggle | Off | Tap **Save As…** to finish the export. | Option | Type | Default | | ------------------- | ------------------------ | ------- | | Page Size | Dropdown (A4, Letter, …) | A4 | | Font Size | Dropdown (Regular, …) | Regular | | Show Document Title | Toggle | On | | Show Page Numbers | Toggle | Off | | Show Watermark | Toggle | On | | Use Style | Toggle | On | | Dark Mode | Toggle | Off | Click **Export to PDF** to download the file. On Web and Windows, the **Show Watermark** toggle is on by default. Turn it off in the export sheet if you don't want the Craft watermark on the bottom of the PDF. On macOS and iOS the watermark is off by default. To export or copy tables made in Craft to Excel: 1. Export the document or page from Craft to Word. 2. Copy the desired table in Word, paste it into Excel. Copying a table from Excel to a Craft page should work without any workarounds. ## Exporting multiple documents at once Bulk exporting multiple documents at once is only available on **Mac and iPad**. The available formats for bulk export are: * **Markdown (.md)** * **TextBundle (.textbundle)** * **PDF (.pdf)** ### How to bulk export multiple documents **Navigate to a folder** that contains the documents you want to export. **Select multiple documents** by tapping and holding (iPad) or using **Shift + Click** (Mac). **Tap the three-dot menu (⋯)** in the top-right corner. **Select Export As**, then choose a format. Folder export menu ## Export daily notes On **Mac, iPhone, and iPad** you can export your daily notes as Markdown files. Export all of them at once, or pick a date range. You can start the export from two places: **Open All Docs** from the sidebar. **Tap the three-dot menu (⋯)** in the top-right corner. **Select Export As**, then **Export Daily Notes**. **Choose All**, or **Select Dates…** to export a date range. Export Daily Notes in the All Docs three-dot menu **Open the Calendar view** from the sidebar. **Tap the three-dot menu (⋯)** in the top-right corner. **Select Export Daily Notes**. **Choose All**, or **Select Dates…** to export a date range. Export Daily Notes in the Calendar three-dot menu If you choose **Select Dates…**, set the start and end date, then select **Export**. The range starts at the first day of the current month by default. Export Daily Notes date range dialog Only days that have a daily note are included in the export. Days without a note are skipped. ## Sharing vs. exporting * If you want to **collaborate on a document**, consider using **Share Links** instead of exporting. This allows others to view or edit the document in Craft. * You can also publish documents online via **Public Links** for easy sharing. ## Best practices for exporting * Use **PDF or Word** for professional document sharing. * Choose **Markdown or TextBundle** for cross-platform compatibility. * **Batch export** multiple documents for backups or migrations (Mac & iPad only). * **Check formatting** after exporting to ensure all elements appear correctly. By using Craft's export features, you can seamlessly move and share your content in the format that works best for you. # Folder Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/export/folder Export entire folders with all documents and nested content. Exporting a folder in Craft allows you to download its content in a convenient format. Currently, it is only possible to export folders in the **Mac app**. ## How to export a folder **Open the Folder** Navigate to the folder you wish to export. **Access the Export Option** Click on the **three-dot menu** in the top-right corner of the folder view. **Select Export** Choose your desired export format (e.g., PDF, Markdown, TextBundle, etc.). **Save the Exported File** Follow the prompts to save the file to your desired location on your device. Exporting a folder in Craft The export will include all documents and subpages within the folder. If you encounter any issues during export, ensure your app is up to date and try exporting smaller batches if needed. # Space Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/export/space Export complete spaces for backup or migration to another Craft account. Follow these steps to quickly back up your content or export it to other platforms: **Open the "Organize" or "All Documents" view** in the app. **Click on the three-dot menu** in the top-right corner. **Select the Export option**. **Choose your desired format** and save the file to your device. Export menu showing space export option This process ensures your content is safely backed up and easily transferable. If you encounter any issues during export, ensure your app is up to date and try exporting smaller batches if needed. # Import Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import Import your notes and documents from other apps and file formats into Craft. The fundamental goal of Craft is to help you think, write, and communicate better. All of these activities involve processing and managing your data, so it's crucial that you can bring your content into Craft. All Craft apps let you import the following file types: * Markdown (.md or .markdown) * TextBundle (.textbundle) ## Import your content into Craft with a few clicks To get started, while in **All Documents**, **Organize** or **Unsorted** view, go to the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select **Import** from the Import / Export section. On the web application, it is only possible to import single markdown files. ## Import from other apps We provide dedicated import guides for popular note-taking apps and services: Import workspaces and databases directly Import notebooks and notes Import documents, spreadsheets, and folders Import documents from Google Drive Import vaults with backlinks Import with Markdown or TextBundle Export as Markdown and upload the folder Import notebooks and sections Import your Roam graph Import spaces and objects Sync reading highlights automatically ## Import file formats You can also import content directly from supported file formats: Import Markdown (.md) files Import TextBundle and TextPack files ## Current limitations We understand moving content across virtual spaces and different accounts can be challenging and time-consuming. We're constantly trying to find faster and easier ways to make joining Craft from another platform a smooth experience. But unfortunately, the complexity of that process will involve the limitations and capabilities not only of Craft, but also from whatever platform you're coming from. During import we have some built-in limits to make sure import will work performantly – you can't import more than 1000 files at once at this point. # Import from Anytype Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/anytype Import your notes and content from Anytype into Craft. If you've been using **Anytype** and want to move your notes into **Craft**, you can easily do so using Markdown export. ## Export from Anytype **Open Anytype** on your desktop. **Click the three-dot menu (⋯)** in the **top-right corner** of the window. **Select Export** from the dropdown menu. **Choose Markdown format** in the export options. **Click Export** to start the process. Once the export finishes, you'll find your content saved locally in a folder containing Markdown files and any associated media (images, attachments, etc.). ## Import into Craft Once you've exported your Anytype data, you can import it directly into Craft: **Open Craft** on desktop or web. **Navigate to "All Docs" view** (select this view from the left sidebar). **Go to the three-dot menu (⋯)** in the upper right corner. **Choose Import → Markdown (.md)**. **Select your exported markdown files** You can select one or multiple files. Craft will automatically import your documents and attachments. ## Review and Organize Your Content After the import is complete: * All your notes will appear as individual Craft documents. * Folder structures from Anytype will be preserved where possible. * Embedded images and links should import automatically, but double-check any large attachments. You can now reorganize or move your imported pages within your workspace as needed. ## Troubleshooting If something doesn't look right after importing: * Ensure you exported in **Markdown format** (not PDF or Anytype's own format). * Check that all files and folders were included in the exported folder. * If you encounter issues, try importing a smaller batch or contact Craft Support. - You can use **drag-and-drop** to import single Markdown files into any Craft page. - On the web application, it is only possible to import single markdown files. - Craft will automatically detect images referenced in Markdown files and upload them. # Import from Apple Notes Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/apple-notes Export your notes from Apple Notes as Markdown and bring them into Craft. Starting with iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, Apple Notes can export your notes as Markdown files, including any images and attachments. There are two ways to bring them into Craft: * **Moving your whole Apple Notes library?** Use the [import page](https://docs.craft.do/import/apple-notes). It takes the exported folder as a whole, so your images and attachments stay linked to the right notes. * **Just a few notes?** Drag the exported Markdown files straight into Craft. Quicker, but text only. Either way, you start by exporting from Apple Notes. ## Export from Apple Notes In Apple Notes, select each note you would like to bring into Craft. You can select multiple notes at once. Go to **File > Export As > Markdown** to create Markdown files from the selected notes. Select where Apple Notes should save the exported folder. Markdown export requires macOS Tahoe or iOS 26. On earlier versions, Apple Notes has no built-in export. For a few notes, copy and paste them straight into a Craft document. For a large library, updating your Mac is the most reliable path — or convert your notes with the third-party [Exporter](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/exporter/id1099120373?mt=12) app from the Mac App Store. ## Import Your Whole Library This is the recommended route when you're moving everything over, and the only one that brings your images and attachments along. Open [docs.craft.do/import/apple-notes](https://docs.craft.do/import/apple-notes) in your browser, then drag the **whole export folder** onto the drop zone — not the Markdown files from inside it. Your images and attachments live next to those files in the folder, so they only make it into Craft if you drop the folder itself. The drop zone also accepts individual Markdown files, but then your images and attachments are left behind. Drop the whole export folder to bring everything across in one go. ## Import a Few Notes Directly For a handful of notes, you can skip the import page and bring the Markdown files into Craft directly: Navigate to **All Documents** or **Organize** view. Drag the exported `.md` files into the document list, or click the **Import** icon at the bottom of the left sidebar and select the files. Markdown files on their own don't carry your images and attachments. To keep them, upload the exported folder on the import page instead. ## Troubleshooting Markdown export requires macOS Tahoe or iOS 26. On earlier versions, copy and paste your notes into Craft, or convert them first with the [Exporter](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/exporter/id1099120373?mt=12) app. Drop the whole export folder on the import page rather than the individual Markdown files — your images and attachments sit alongside those files in the folder, and are left behind if you select the files on their own. Try starting the import again. If the issue persists, contact support. # Import from Bear Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/bear Import your notes from Bear into Craft with markdown or TextBundle. Bear offers both **Markdown (.md)** and **TextBundle (.textbundle)** export options. Craft allows you to import both formats, ensuring your content and attachments transfer smoothly. ## Export Your Bear Notes **Open Bear** and select the notes you want to export. **Choose export format** Export as either **Markdown (.md)** or **TextBundle (.textbundle)** files. * If you export as **TextBundle**, you can import the file directly into Craft with no additional adjustments needed. * If you export as **Markdown (.md)**, follow the steps below to ensure that your PDFs, images, and other assets are correctly imported. ## Importing Markdown Files with Assets from Bear When exporting Markdown files from Bear, there are a few formatting details to keep in mind to ensure your PDFs, images, and attachments import correctly. ### Adjusting Your Markdown File for a Seamless Import 1. **No Need to Remove the Embed Code** Starting from **Craft version 3.1.0**, you no longer need to remove the following embed code from your Markdown files: ```html theme={null} ``` 2. **Separate Each Asset into Its Own Paragraph** Ensure each PDF, image, or other attachment is placed on its own line rather than grouped within a single paragraph. This can be done directly in **Bear** by pressing **Enter** before and after each asset. Example in **Bear**: ```markdown theme={null} This is some text before the image. ![Image](image.png) This is some text after the image. ![PDF](document.pdf) ``` After exporting, open the Markdown file in a text editor to double-check that each asset reference is on its own line. This ensures the files will display correctly when imported into Craft. ## Import into Craft **Open Craft** and navigate to **All Documents** or **Organize** view. **Click the Import icon** at the bottom of the left sidebar. **Choose the format** (Markdown or TextBundle) and select your exported files. # Import from Evernote Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/evernote Import your Evernote notebooks into Craft by exporting them from the Evernote desktop app and uploading the files. ## How to Start the Import Open Craft (native app or web). Click the **Import** icon at the bottom of the left sidebar and select **Import from Evernote**. This opens the import page at [docs.craft.do/import/evernote](https://docs.craft.do/import/evernote). ## Export Your Notes from Evernote Exports can only be done from the **Evernote desktop app** — it is not possible to export from Evernote Web. See [Evernote's export guide](https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557) for detailed instructions. Launch the Evernote desktop application on your computer. To select multiple notebooks, hold **Shift** while clicking. Right-click on the selected note(s) and choose **Export...**. Select **ENEX** as the file format. When exporting from Evernote, you can choose what to include in the `.enex` file. Make sure to select the data you want to bring into Craft: * **Tags** * **Comments** * **Tasks** * **Reminders** If any of these are not included in your exported `.enex` files, they will **not** be imported into Craft. There is no way to add them after the fact without re-exporting from Evernote. ## Upload and Import Drag and drop your `.enex` files onto the upload area, or click to browse. You can upload up to **50 files** at a time. Select the **Craft Space** where you want your Evernote notes to appear. Optionally select a **destination folder** to organize your imported notes. Optionally toggle **Include comments** to import comments from your Evernote notes. Click **Import**. You'll see a progress bar as your files are uploaded and imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background. ## After the Import Once complete, you'll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you'll find your imported documents. ## Troubleshooting Make sure you selected **ENEX** as the export format in Evernote, not HTML or another format. You can upload a maximum of **50 .enex files** per import. Split larger exports into batches. Re-export from Evernote and make sure to include them in the export options. Try restarting the import. If the issue persists, contact support. # Import from Google Docs Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/google-docs Import your Google Docs directly into Craft by signing in with your Google account and selecting the documents you want to bring over. ## How to Start the Import Open Craft (native app or web). Click the **Import** icon at the bottom of the left sidebar and select **Import from Google Docs**. This opens the import page at [docs.craft.do/import/google-docs](https://docs.craft.do/import/google-docs). ## Sign In and Select Documents Click **Select Documents from Google Docs** to sign in with your Google account. You'll be asked to grant Craft permission to access the documents you select. A Google file picker will open where you can browse **My Drive** and **Shared Drives**. Select one or more Google Docs to import. You can select multiple documents at once. Your selected documents will be listed on the import page. You can remove individual documents or click **Select More Documents** to add more. ## Import Your Documents Select the **Craft Space** where you want your Google Docs to appear. Optionally select a **destination folder** to organize your imported documents. Click **Import**. You'll see a progress bar as your documents are imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background. ## After the Import Once complete, you'll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you'll find your imported documents. ## Troubleshooting Make sure you granted full access when signing in with Google. Try again and accept all permission prompts. Your Google session has expired. Click **Select Documents** to sign in again. Try restarting the import. If the issue persists, contact support. # Import from Notion Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/notion Import your Notion workspace, pages, and databases directly into Craft — no file export needed. ## How to Start the Import Open Craft (native app or web). Click the **Import** icon at the bottom of the left sidebar and select **Import from Notion**. This opens the import page at [docs.craft.do/import/notion](https://docs.craft.do/import/notion). ## Set Up Your Notion Connection The import page will guide you through four steps to connect your Notion workspace: Go to [Notion Connections](https://www.notion.so/profile/integrations) to manage your connections. Notion Connections page with New connection button Give it any name, select **Access token**, choose your workspace, and hit **Save**. Notion New connection dialog with Access token selected When creating your connection, make sure to configure the following capabilities: * **Read content** — this is **required** for the import to work. Without it, Craft cannot access your Notion pages. * **Read comments** — enable this if you want to import comments from your Notion pages. This must be selected **before** starting the import. You can configure capabilities in the **Capabilities** section of your connection settings. Add the pages and databases you want to import. You have to add every page individually — you cannot select the entire workspace at once. Only pages you grant access to will be included in the import. Notion Content access tab with pages and databases selected Go back to the **Configuration** tab and copy the **Access token**. ## Import Your Documents Paste your Access token into the field on the import page. Select the **Craft Space** where you want your Notion documents to appear. Optionally select a **destination folder** to organize your imported documents. Optionally toggle **Include comments** to import Notion comments alongside your pages (requires the **Read comments** capability — see above). Click **Import**. You'll see a progress bar as your documents are imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background. ## After the Import Once complete, you'll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you'll find your imported documents. ## Limitations * **Linked databases** are not imported. Only original databases and standalone pages are included. Linked (mirrored) database views will be skipped. ## Troubleshooting Double-check that you copied the full Access token from the **Configuration** tab in your Notion connection settings. Make sure you selected the individual pages and databases you want to import in the **Content access** tab of your Notion connection settings. You have to select each page individually. Also verify that **Read content** is enabled under **Capabilities**. Try restarting the import. If the issue persists, contact support. # Import from Obsidian Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/obsidian Import your Obsidian vault — notes, attachments, and images — directly into Craft. ## How to Start the Import Go to the [import page](https://docs.craft.do/import/obsidian) to get started. ## Locate Your Obsidian Vault Your vault is a folder on your computer containing your Markdown notes and attachments. Press **Cmd + Space** to open Spotlight Search, type the name of your vault, and select it to reveal it in Finder. Open File Explorer and search for your vault folder name, or check **Obsidian → Settings → About** for the vault's file path. ## Import Your Vault Drag and drop your entire vault folder onto the upload area on the import page, or click to browse and select it. Select the **Craft Space** where you want your Obsidian notes to appear. Optionally select a **destination folder** to organize your imported notes. Click **Import**. You'll see a progress bar as your vault is uploaded and imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background. Craft brings over your entire vault in one go, including: * All Markdown notes, converted into Craft documents * Images and other attachments, embedded in place * Your folder structure, preserved as nested documents ## After the Import Once complete, you'll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you'll find your imported documents. * **Backlinks**: Links between your Obsidian notes are preserved as links between the corresponding Craft documents. * **Backup your vault**: Before importing, it's a good idea to keep a backup of your Obsidian vault. ## Troubleshooting Make sure all media files referenced by your notes are stored inside the vault folder you uploaded. Attachments outside the vault folder won't be included. Try restarting the import. If the issue persists, contact support. # Import from OneNote Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/onenote Import your notebooks from Microsoft OneNote into Craft. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to import OneNote files directly to Craft. As a workaround, we suggest the following option: ## Export from OneNote as PDF OneNote offers [PDF export](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/export-notes-from-onenote-as-a-pdf-13d173b5-7f4c-45a8-94eb-9354d63af5cd) only, so you can add these PDF files to your Craft documents as attachments. **Export your OneNote notebooks** as PDF files following Microsoft's documentation. **Open Craft** and create or navigate to a document where you want to add the content. **Drag and drop the PDF files** into your Craft document. You can drag and drop multiple files at once to speed up this process. Since OneNote doesn't support Markdown or structured text export, the content will be imported as PDF attachments rather than editable text. This means you won't be able to edit the content directly in Craft. # Import from Quip Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/import-and-export/import/quip Import your Quip documents, spreadsheets, and folders directly into Craft — no file export needed. ## How to Start the Import Open [docs.craft.do/import/quip](https://docs.craft.do/import/quip) in your browser, and sign in to your Craft account if you aren't already. ## Get Your Quip Access Token Craft connects to Quip with a personal access token that you generate yourself. Go to [quip.com/dev/token](https://quip.com/dev/token) while signed in to the Quip account you want to import from. Click **Get Personal Access Token** and copy the token that appears. Your access token grants full access to everything in your Quip account. Don't share it, and don't post it anywhere public. The token gives Craft access to everything your Quip account can see — your private documents, plus any shared and group folders you're a member of. You don't need to grant access to documents one by one. ## Import Your Documents Paste the token into the field on the import page. Select the **Craft Space** where you want your Quip documents to appear. Optionally select a **destination folder** to keep the imported content together. Optionally toggle **Include comments** to bring your Quip comments across alongside your documents. Click **Import**. You'll see a progress bar as your documents are imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background. Quip limits how quickly its data can be read. If your account is large, the import pauses and resumes on its own until everything is through — a few hundred documents can take fifteen minutes or more. You don't need to keep the page open. ## After the Import Once complete, you'll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you'll find your imported documents. ## What Craft Couldn't Bring Over Some things in Quip have no equivalent in Craft, and occasionally a file won't download. Rather than leave you to spot that yourself, Craft lists anything it couldn't fully carry over once the import finishes, along with the documents affected, so you can go and check them. You might see any of the following: * **Documents that couldn't be imported** — chats and slide decks, or a document Quip wouldn't return. * **Images or attachments that couldn't be downloaded** — the document imported without them. * **Live Apps imported as tables** — their contents are there, but they're no longer interactive. * **Comments that couldn't be imported** — the document arrived without them. * **Files attached to comments** — the comment text came across, the attached file didn't. * **Comments that lost their place** — they're attached to the document instead of the passage they were written about. A summary like this is normal, especially for large accounts, and your documents are already in Craft. It's there so you know exactly what to look at, not to tell you something went wrong. A chat or slide deck that wasn't imported has no Craft document to open, so it's listed by name only. Everything else links straight to the imported document. ## What Comes Across Headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links, highlights, bulleted and numbered lists, checklists, tables, code blocks, dividers, and quotes. Quip has underline and Craft doesn't, so underlined text arrives with a light grey highlight instead — the emphasis is preserved even though the exact styling isn't. Your folder structure is recreated in Craft, and documents you starred in Quip arrive starred. In Quip a document can sit in several folders at once. Craft puts each document in one, so an imported document lands in the first folder it was found in. Empty folders aren't recreated. Images and file attachments are downloaded and re-uploaded into Craft, so they keep working after the import — they aren't just links back to Quip. A Quip spreadsheet becomes a Craft table, so you can read and edit it in place. The original `.xlsx` workbook is also attached to the document, so nothing about the original is lost. These become Craft collections, with your columns as a status property and each card carrying its status. Column colors carry over. Links and mentions pointing at other Quip documents and folders are rewritten to point at the imported Craft versions, so your internal links keep working. Links to documents that weren't part of the import stay pointing at Quip. Quip date mentions become real Craft dates rather than plain text. If you enable **Include comments**, comments and their replies come across with the original author names and timestamps, attached to the text they were written about. ## Limitations Most of these are named in the summary after your import, so you'll know which documents were affected. The two marked below aren't flagged, because there's nothing missing for Craft to report. * **Chats and slide decks aren't imported.** Craft has no equivalent for either, so Quip conversations and presentations are skipped. Documents and spreadsheets are imported. * **Live Apps other than Kanban boards and Project Trackers** — Calendars, for example — are imported as a plain table showing their contents. The information is there, but it's no longer interactive. * **Files attached to comments aren't imported.** The comment text still comes across; the attached file doesn't. * **Some comments may lose their place.** If the text a comment was written about no longer exists in Quip's export, the comment is attached to the document as a whole instead of to that passage. Nothing is lost, but it may not be where you expect. * **Templates import as ordinary documents** *(not flagged)*. A Quip template arrives as a normal Craft document rather than a Craft template. All of its content is there — it just isn't set up as a template in Craft. * **Documents in the Quip trash aren't imported** *(not flagged)*. Craft only sees the documents your Quip account holds outside the trash. Importing only reads from Quip. Nothing in your Quip account is moved, edited, or deleted, so you can keep using it as normal and re-run the import if you need to. ## Troubleshooting Double-check that you copied the whole token from [quip.com/dev/token](https://quip.com/dev/token). If you're not sure the token you pasted is the current one, open that page again and copy the token it shows. This means the token worked but Craft couldn't see any documents through it. Make sure you generated the token while signed in to the right Quip account — if you have more than one, it's easy to create a token for the wrong one. This is usually Quip's rate limits rather than a problem. The import pauses and picks up again by itself, and it keeps running after you close the page. Large accounts can take a while. A document that lives in several Quip folders is placed in the first one found, so it may not be where you expect. If a document is missing entirely, check whether it's a chat or a slide deck, which aren't imported, and whether it's in the Quip trash. Try restarting the import. Documents that already came across won't be duplicated. TextBundle is an open file format designed to make text documents with embedded images and attachments portable across different applications. Craft supports importing both TextBundle (`.textbundle`) and TextPack (`.textpack`) files, preserving your content structure, formatting, and media. ## What is TextBundle? TextBundle packages a Markdown file together with its associated media files (images, attachments) into a single bundle. This makes it easy to move documents between apps without losing embedded content or dealing with broken image links. **Key features:** * Markdown-based content with metadata * Embedded images and attachments stay together * Preserves document structure and formatting * Widely supported across note-taking apps ## Importing TextBundle Files Open Craft and navigate to **All Documents**, **Organize**, or **Unsorted** view Click or tap the three-dot menu (⋯) in the upper right corner Select **Import** from the Import / Export section Choose your TextBundle or TextPack file Import menu showing import option Craft will create a new document with your content, including all embedded images and attachments in their original locations within the text. The web application currently supports importing individual Markdown files only. TextBundle import is not available on the web version. Use the desktop or mobile apps to import TextBundle files. ## What Gets Imported When you import a TextBundle file, Craft preserves: * **Text content** – All Markdown formatting converts to Craft blocks * **Headings and structure** – Document hierarchy maintained * **Images** – Embedded images appear in the correct locations * **Attachments** – Files included in the bundle are imported * **Links** – Both internal and external links preserved ## Import Limitations To ensure reliable performance, Craft has built-in limits for importing: * **Maximum 1,000 files** per import operation * **Large bundles** may take longer to process * **Unsupported Markdown features** may not convert perfectly If you need to import more than 1,000 files, split them into smaller batches and import separately. ## After Importing Once imported, your TextBundle content becomes native Craft documents. You can: * Edit and format using Craft's full feature set * Add new blocks, pages, and media * Organize into folders and collections * Share or publish your documents ## Related Topics Learn about all import options in Craft Learn how to export your Craft documents # Craft Documentation Source: https://craft-support.mintlify.app/en/index Learn how to use Craft – the powerful, beautiful tool for creating documents, managing tasks, and organizing your work and life.
