Cover images add a visual header to your Craft documents, helping create a polished, professional look. You can upload your own images or select from Unsplash’s collection of professional photos.

Adding a Cover Image

Open your document

In the right sidebar, select the Style section

Click on the Cover Image option

Choose to upload your own image or select one from Unsplash

Customizing Your Cover Image

Once you’ve added a cover image, you can edit, crop, and customize it to fit your needs.

Hover over the bottom-right corner of the cover image

Click the pencil icon that appears

Use the editing tools to crop and position your image

Click Done when finished

Cropping Options

You can crop your cover image to specific aspect ratios from the grid dropdown:
  • Default - Original image proportions
  • 16:9 - Widescreen format
  • 2:1 - Ultra-wide format
  • 3:1 - Extra-wide banner
  • 4:3 - Classic display ratio
  • Freeform - Drag corners for custom sizing
  • Zoom out: Hold down Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while editing
  • Drag image: Hold down the Space bar to reposition the image
  • Reset: Select Reset from the grid dropdown to start fresh

Removing a Cover Image

To remove a cover image from your document:

Hover over the cover image

Click the X icon that appears

Craft’s Unsplash integration provides instant access to high-quality, professional photos:

When adding a cover image, select Unsplash

Search for keywords related to your document’s topic
3
Click on an image to add it as your cover
All Unsplash images are free to use and don’t require attribution, though it’s appreciated.
